    Default Safety guard

How many of you trim with the safety guard off? I've notice some mowing company around here has taken the liberty to remove them. We mow with them on.

I really see no reason to remove the safety shields from the trimmers. I have noticed that around here also. I get hit with enough stuff from the trimmer anyways, so why take off the shield? Besides with the string cutter on the shield how is the string always at the proper length? Great questions now if someone who doesn't use the guard can answer.

I cant see how the trimmer can function properly as mentioned without the line cutter. The shield is kind of irritating but when you use the same trimmer for years you get use to it. 3 of my commercial lots have incline swells for drainage this is when the shield gets in the way but it really needs to stay on.

I would not recommend trimming without the safety guard on. It can be quite dangerous.

You're just asking for trouble if you run it without a safety guard.

I guess you can remove the safety shield if you want but you have to remember that you'll have to pay for it later if an employee or customer gets hurt because you removed it. You might have to pay for workers comp or even worse, you might have a lawsuit on your hands.

Yeah... Not a very good idea. It might make a bit easier here and there but for the most part it's just much safer to keep it on.
