Best Privacy Shrub Options
What are the best shrubs you can think of to use for privacy?
I like to use Boxwoods or some sort of small spruce or pine (such as an older Dwarf Alberta Spruce.)
I also am fond of using bush-type rose bushes. Not only do these help block windows and things but prevent the problem that most privacy shrubs have (which is blocking people from seeing thief's) with all the thorns.

I've always seen a lot of people use Yews.
Not only do these provide a thick hedge but they are an evergreen so they stay green all year long. Most can be molded to shapes (although for a privacy hedge I would think either natural or rectangular would be the only molding you would want to do.)

I like using Poplars. They don't have a really long life but they grow fast and tall. They also work great as a wind break.

I recommend bushes with thorns to prevent people from getting in them. I like to use Crimson Pygmy Barberry shrubs.
They are a purple/mauve color and have some very sharp thorns that will deter anyone from sneaking around windows. They get about 3 to 4 feet wide and tall.

All of these suggestions are very good ideas. I've seen all of these used to great success.

Eliangus ebinigi i think that is the correct spelling you can throw them in the middle of the road and they will grow. I have 3 they spread about 15 to 20 ft x 15 ft tall and trim up very well. Also it got down to 18 degrees below zero this past winter and they remained green. Another good one is blue tip juniper 5 ft x 15 ft what size area are you trying to cover? Both mentioned will trim to any size.
