I recently purchased a small Mantis Tiller from a garage sale because it was cheap and I needed one. I've really enjoyed this little tiller. It does the job it needs to do and it can get about 6-inches deep. It doesn't weigh too much so I had to bungee a small sand bag to the top of the unit to make it heavy enough to actually cut deep into the earth, but it makes a large task small for sure.
