Question What fertilizer do you recommend?

Or what fertilizer do you use on clients lawns? I was recommended a 10-6-10 blend. I believe that is more of a natural fertilizer because of the low numbers. Which is better, high chemically-enhanced fertilizer or natural?

It might seem trivial but I've found a pretty cheap and non-evasive form of fertilizer is peat moss. If you put it directly in the ground it not only acts as a fertilizer but also improves drainage. I'm getting beside myself. If you put it in a broadcast spreader and apply it to a lawn within a day or so it will be about as green as it could possibly be.

I think just a standard commercial fertilizer works best.

    Default Soil test first!

Doing a soil test first will ensure of the proper fertilizer to use. A good soil test will tell you your PH, if you need to lime and how much along with the exact ratio of N, P, K to be applied. It will also advise of the levels of micronutrients present and if you need to add these components. You need to know the types or types of turfgrass which are present in your lawn or your clients. After you do the first two suggestions you need to choose a high quality fertilizer. Are you choosing a synthetic, synthetic/organic or organic fertilizer? All three choices have their benefits and weaknesses. Choose wisely and understand the square footage of the property and be sure to calibrate properly to ensure the correct amount of product is applied. Too much or too little will have negative results. You can use a professional grade high quality golf greens fertilizer for less than you pay for retail sold fertilizer. Seek guidance if you need help from a place of business with knowledge and experience. If you have other specific question please post and I'm sure someone can answer your questions.
