Granular is best * REMEMBER THE SLOW RELEASE! Granular fertilizer is the best choice for the combination of performance and cost. The most misunderstood simple facts about fertilizer is the slow release. The slow release can vary dramatically. The examples are a slow release of 20% versus a 75%. The 75% will last longer and give a controlled feeding. The non coated product is released immediately and leaches out in a few days except for the amount the turf plant pulls into it's system. The slow release is released slowly for the next 4-8 weeks depending on amount and type of coating along with the amount of moisture. It is best to purchase your products from a location that has professionals with experience to guide and educate you. Fertilizer can be very difficult and confusing or fairly simple depending on who you talk to. I have found most people who know alot are not great at relaying the information in every day terms most people can understand and use.
Weed control is best applied as a liquid. Always read and follow the label as far as rates of the product to be applied. The performance is linked directly to rates. This is true with fertilizer as well. Double the rate is not better and half the rate will not provide desired results. Calibration is a key word. Use exactly the prescribed amount for the area to be treated. |
