Which do you think is a better option spike aerators, or plug core?

There is no question that the core aerators do a better job of relieving the soil compaction. The spike aerators basically just push the soil down and out, they make a hole, but also compact the soil around the hole. The core aerators will pull a plug of soil out and leave it on the surface letting air, fert., water go down into the soil.
